My name is NORA and I live in South Africa, and this is my flock of parrots. Me...on the main pic, with OUGAT my first parrot, an african grey, bought her( I think its a her...) at 4 weeks at a pet shop in Shelly Beach , South Africa. I hand fed her ( with a spoon) . She was hatched on 18 September 2002.She started talking at about 6 months and at a year and 3 months she had a vocabulary of about 50 words.At 2 years and 4 months her vocabulary is over 200 words, She is quite tame, but can have a temper... if she cant get her own way. |
Addicted to Parrots!!!!
Then came my addiction to Parrots...
I bought Chucky a cockatiel to keep Ougat company.....and that was just the beginning. One morning I passed a pet shop that had a breeding pair of Nandy's, and..... well they became part of our bird family.. as well as the green Indian ringnecks. |
Who next?
Well..... who next??? we bought Eskimo and geelkoppie,(at about 8 weeks) and then.... the red sided Eclectus..( at 11 weeks) . |

Looking for a baby!!!!
I decided that I wanted to buy another baby to hand feed, was not a problem for me as I had been brought up with hand feeding, my Father used to breed birds, and after research decided on a Black Wing Jardine...I had to wait a while for him but eventually got Je'taime at 3 weeks |
